It's That Time Again!

It's time to look through your photos from the last year and decide which ones you want to submit for next year's Sonlight catalog. Sonlight features between 120 and 240 photos in its catalog each you, and YOURS could be one of them.

Sonlight will choose three photos for special recognition. If your photo is one of these lucky three, you'll receive a fantastic Sonlight gift certificate ($500, $250, or $100) as well as a framed print of the catalog page on which your photo appears!

You can find all the rules, details, and instructions for uploading your photos here. That page also gives great hints for taking good photos and writing exciting captions.

Here's a photo I'm planning to submit. It's of my daughter on an excavation at Vindolanda, a Roman fort near Hadrian's Wall in northern England. She's holding a piece of a 4th-century, Roman horse bridle that she uncovered!

It's a real treat to get your catalog and find that YOUR photo has been selected...even if it wasn't chosen as one of the big winners. One of my was chosen several years ago, and I was chuffed to bits! I'll see if I can locate it and post it here sometime.

Have fun sorting through your photos. Or have fun taking that special shot sometime in the next few weeks. Photos must be uploaded by August 2 for inclusion in the 2009-2010 catalog.
