Here's what school looks like in our house.
My son, E, does his Algebra at the kitchen table. He generally saves math for last because it's his least favorite subject! We've found, though, that Teaching Textbooks works well for both him and C, my daughter. She's just about done with Algebra II and will soon be moving on to Geometry. Her cat, Willy, cheered her on today as she did her math work.
C likes to do her math and science up in her bedroom. Here she is hard at work reading Apologia Biology.
E is doing Apologia Physical Science this year, and today he did a cool experiment. Actually he did two experiments, but I got a photo of only one of them.
Both experiments worked really well, so we were pleased!
We're beginning our 11th year of Sonlight! C is doing Core 400 this year, American Civics and Government. We've both been pleasantly surprised how interesting it's been so far. E is doing a strange Core 100/200 mix this year. I've never changed a Core up like this before, so I'm interested to see how it plays out. I tell people all the time that they should feel free to change Cores to fit their children's needs, but this is the first time I've had to follow my own advice! It's going well so far, and I'm excited about the school year for both of them.
So what Cores are your kids doing this year? Comment here or post on my personal Sonlight Forum. Have a great school year, everybody!
