I just read an interesting article about families choosing educational paths for their children. You can read it here. Each of the families interviewed chose slightly different paths for their kids, but the thing I love is that they CHOSE. They thought about it. If public school was the best option, that's what they did. If homeschooling would work better, they chose that. Each family made sacrifices to do the best thing for the children.
I enjoyed reading about the families' situations and their reasons for making their educational decisions, too. It reminded me that we're all in different boats, so to speak, and there's not one right answer for all of us. A lady asked me the other why I decided to homeschool. The simple answer is, "Because God said to." Really. That's it. And while that's STILL my reason to homeschool--even 11 years down the road--I can offer many, many more reasons for why it works well for us. You will most likely have a different reason for schooling your kids the way you do.
As I begin the school day with my kids this morning, I'm thankful that God is allowing me to teach my kids. I'm fully aware that God may redirect our educational path any time He chooses, but, boy, am I happy to do being this right now!
I pray that God will direct each of YOU as you parent your children. May He comfort you and give you wisdom no matter what educational path you're traveling. He loves us more than we could ever imagine, and I pray that He'll hug you extra tight today!
