My family insists on reading this book every year because it is hysterical! It's a perfect read-aloud for families whose kids are pre-teens or older. The story takes place in Asquont, New York in 1960, and it's told by Doug Barnes, a middle-school-age boy. You'll laugh out loud as you read about last-minute science projects and church nativity pageants gone a bit wonky. At one point of the book my daughter and I were both trying to figure out if we were going to laugh or cry! Laughter won out, and we chuckled and guffawed our way to the end of the book.
I'd loan you my copy, but I suspect we'll read it again before the season is over!
