Book Recommendation

I mentioned this book several months ago, and I simply must bring it up again! I stumbled upon The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society in the library and decided to give it a go. Boy, am I glad I did! (I then bought it in hardback. Does that tell you anything?)

The story is set in post-World War II England. The author weaves this exquisite story from letters, telegrams, and messages between delightful (and one not-so-delightful) characters in London, Scotland, Guernsey (one of the Channel Islands between England and France), and even Australia. I miss the characters when I finish reading this story! Don't you just love when that happens!

I really don't want to give too much of the plot away. I don't want to take away your fun! Just trust me on this one, and read the book. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll be transported into a strange and difficult time of war-weary people rebuilding their lives and homes.

If you love history and/or historical fiction, this book is for you. If you don't love history and/or historical fiction, read this book, and I bet you'll change your mind!
