It's 4th of July weekend, and God has blessed us with a break in the south Georgia heat. Temperatures are at a manageable 86 degrees (27 Celsius). Sweet! I napped for a while this afternoon in my hammock on the back porch. I listened to the birds singing and the wind blowing through the trees. It was balm for my soul, I tell you! (Insert happy sigh here!)
The Lord has allowed us to live in Europe for many years (13 of the last 21 years), and it's wonderful! What a privilege! This weekend, however, I want to take time to thank God for my home country, the United States of America. We are an amazing, unique, blessed country. I'm extremely grateful to live in a country where the government cannot tell me how I may or may not worship. I'm free to worship without fear...and I don't take that for granted.
So let's give three cheers for the USA!
P.S. We lived in England the three years before moving here to Georgia. We've been asked if the Brits celebrate the 4th of July. Ummmm, no! (Think about it for a minute, and you'll figure it out!)
