Back to School!

The "normal" schools here are all beginning classes this week or next week, and I love what one church did to recognize the beginning of a new school year.




Don't you love it! The Blessing of the Backpacks! I thought that was a fabulous way to start the school year with prayers of blessings on all the students.

Our "not-normal" homeschool, Rentz International Academy, will begin classes on 13 August. I pointed this church sign out to my kids the other day (we pass this church all the time) and said, "Isn't that a GREAT idea?!?" My kids both looked at me with bewildered expressions. They said, "Why are they blessing hikers? What's up with that?!?"

Ah, homeschoolers. They had NO concept of beginning a new school year with a new backpack! Mind you, my kids have had a whole collection of backpacks through the years, but they were used for hikes, day trips into London, and sightseeing all over Europe. They don't equate backpacks with school! How funny is that!

Whether your kids go to normal school or homeschool, I pray that God will bless your backpacks, be they literal or figurative. May God give each of us great wisdom as we oversee our kids' education.
